“A green business model that rewards land managers for taking up improved land management practices, resulting in the increase of carbon sequestration in living biomass, dead organic matter and soils by enhancing carbon capture and/or reducing the release of carbon into the atmosphere, in respect of ecological principles favorable to biodiversity and the natural capital overall” (The European Commission-Sustainable Carbon Cycles)

EUROMED - "CARBON 4 SOIL QUALITY" project, within the Work package 1 - Better understanding of CARBON FARMING benefits for quality of soil and CO2 reduction, is aiming to improve missing knowledge gaps about CARBON FARMING and its effects on soil quality and climate change.
For this purpose, on April 2, 2025, a test training session on the training modules related to the topic of Carbon Farming was conducted by the team from North Macedonia at the premises of the Agricultural Institute in Skopje.

Stakeholders from the government and private sectors, NGO-s, agricultural producers, PhD students, and representatives from the academic community gathered in one place, where they had the opportunity to learn more about carbon farming and its impact on soil, the specific farming techniques that simultaneously improve soil quality, as well as the benefits it offers, especially for individual farmers.
Suggestions and opinions gathered on this occasion are important input for refining the training modules and developing high-quality training material, which will be a step forward towards the potential integration of this carbon farming system in practice.
