Prof. Melpomena Popovska PhD, graduated in 1990 at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, Faculty of Agriculture and she has a master's degree at the faculty in 1998, on the topic: "Biological and productive properties of some species of cherries and black cherries during cross-pollination". She received her doctorate in 2007 at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food at the University of "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, on a topic entitled: "Effects of gamma radiation in some types of cherries". Since 1991 she is employed at the Institute of Agriculture in Skopje, as a junior assistant in the Fruit Growing Department, Stone Fruit Section. After her master's degree in 1998, she was chosen as an assistant. After obtaining her doctorate in 2008, she was selected as a research associate, and in 2012 she obtained the title of assistant professor. In 2013, she was elected as an associate professor, and in 2018 as a full professor. In the period from 2001 to 2002 and in 2008, she was the assistant director of the Department of Fruit Growing at the Institute of Agriculture. From 2009 to 2017 and from 2022 until today, she is the Head of the Department of Fruit Growing.
Today prof. Popovska is a full professor in the Department of Fruit Growing.
Carries out scientific research in the fields of: selection and genetics of fruit species, pomology, genetic resources from fruit sources and organic production of these sources.
Тeaches the second cycle of studies in the subject Organic and biodynamic production of fruit crops.
