Laboratory for soil testing, fertilizers and plant material

The laboratory for control of soil quality, fertilizers and plant material belongs to the Department of Soil Science and Plant nutrition. Since 2018, the laboratory has been accredited according to ISO 17024:2018 by the Institute for accreditation of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The laboratory is involved in the development of the scientific-research and applicative activities of the department, and it offers to all interested parties services from the field of laboratory analyses of:

  • soil
  • fertilizers
  • plant material
The laboratory analyses are carried out for scientific and educational purposes, as well as on samples provided by inspection bodies, legal entities and physical persons. The expert team at the laboratory also performs independent sample-taking using modern equipment (Eijkelkamp Auger Set for Heterogeneous Soils; GPS, Garmi Montana 700, etc.).

Most important equipment in the laboratory includes:

  • pH meter, HACH SensiOn pH3;
  • EC meter, Jenway 3540;
  • Dryer, Memmert UN55;
  • Flamephotometer, Jenway pFp7;
  • Spectrophotometer, Hewlett Packard 8453;
  • Atomic absorption spectrometer;
  • Microwave, Ethos easy-Milestone connect;
  • Nitrogen distiller, Biob.Scientific, etc.

 

The laboratory also actively collaborates with other departments within the Institute and is involved in numerous interinstitutional collaborations.
