Laboratory for testing quality of seeds from agricultural plants

As part of the UKIM Agricultural Institute – Skopje, the Laboratory for testing quality of seeds from agricultural plants operates as an independent unit. The laboratory conducts the analyses in accordance to stipulated international standards and methods. It is accredited according to the MKC EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy to examine the quality properties of seeds from agricultural plants:

• seed germination (energy of germination and total germination),
• seed purity,
• presence of other types of weeds,
• moisture,
• absolute mass (mass of 1,000 grains).

The laboratory analyses are carried out for scientific and educational purposes, as well as on samples provided by inspection bodies, legal entities and physical persons.

The laboratory has highly qualified staff and equipment (germination chamber, a dryer, digital scales, a digital apparatus for measuring humidity and hectolitre mass, seed counter, etc.).
